[00:00:01] Hello, world of podcast listeners. Thank you so much for leaning in to listen to the Mark 827 Talks podcast. I am elated to be back with you once again and especially for this episode of Coach Talk. [00:00:18] So this is going to be somewhat of a different. A nuanced episode of the podcast. It's going to center around a conversation that I recently had with my great niece. [00:00:32] Her name is Ava. [00:00:34] So let me tell you to catch you up a little bit. So for Memorial Day of this year, 2025, my sister Andrea, her daughter, who is my niece Courtney, and Courtney's daughter, who is my great niece Ava, they came to see my mom. [00:00:54] My mom is Sarah, and that is granny to Ava. And I meant to say that my sister Andrea is Nonni to Ava, and her mother Courtney is mommy to Ava. [00:01:12] And I am Uncle Darrell, or actually, in her vernacular, Uncle Dariel to Ava. And actually, you know, don't tell my mom, but I think I like Ava's name for me better than my real name. I think I like Dariel better than Darrel, But I've lived long enough with Daryl. Now it's too late to change that name. But anyway, I was kind of inspired to do this episode around the conversation with Ava because when I was recently visiting with them at my mother's house and I decided that it was time for me to leave and come and work on my podcast, she said, don't leave. Why are you leaving? Where are you going? I said, I have to go work on my podcast. But I promise you, once I get done, I'll be back. She said, what is a podcast? I love children. [00:02:08] They are always so inquisitive. [00:02:12] They don't have a problem with asking the powerful questions. They don't know that they're powerful questions. But many times the questions of children cause great exploration. And as a result of that exploration, they cause great discovery. And that is what transformations are made of. [00:02:39] Transformations is what professionals such as myself, professionals who are life and leadership coaches, that's what we do to accomplish transformations in the lives of our clients as a result of me as the coach, asking them powerful questions that cause great exploration and thereby discovery and thereby transformation. [00:03:13] So Ava, without realizing it, and it was subsequent to our conversation actually, that I realized that she had asked quite the powerful question when she said, what is a podcast? [00:03:31] And so when I thought about trying to answer that question for her, I kind of deferred to her mommy and her Nani. And I said, well, I don't know that I have time to explain that to you. Now you'll have to ask your mommy and your nani about that. But before I started recording this episode, I started thinking about what is a podcast. [00:03:55] And interestingly enough, just like happens when you are placed in a position where you're asked a powerful question and you start exploring, then also you begin to ask yourself even more powerful questions. [00:04:16] So, as a result of Ava's coaching question, what is a podcast? [00:04:21] I started thinking, what is a podcast? [00:04:24] But even more specifically, what is a podcast? And why do I do a podcast? I am a life and leadership coach. [00:04:36] And so. So what does podcasting have to do with being a life and leadership coach? [00:04:45] Well, let me tell you. So the reason that I am a life and leadership coach is because I believe that I have been called by God to actually affect change amongst global leadership, that is global corporate leadership, global political leadership, global pastoral leadership, even global parental leadership, and to be used of God in order to effect change in each one of those arenas, in the arena of the corporation, in the arena of the corporate marketplace, in the arena of the local capital or the national capital, or in the arena of households, I'll have the great privilege of affecting change within each one of those arenas by affecting change within the life and the leadership practices of the leaders that lead within those arenas. [00:06:00] And so the podcast actually helps me with that endeavor, because the podcast helps me to let the world know that I can help them with those matters. [00:06:18] You know, you may have been greatly gifted to, to do some great things in this world for people, but if they never know that that's what you were born to do, or that's what you were called to do, or that's what you are good at doing, or even that's what you are learning to be good at doing, you'll likely never be able to to help them to benefit from what you are called to do. [00:06:59] So you gotta let the world know who you are and what you do so that what you have been called to do and gifted to do, what you are talented to do can. Can be used for the benefit of those who you are called to benefit. [00:07:25] So I'm so glad for the coaching question that Ava asked me because it caused some great exploration and thereby some great discovery for me so that I know that when I do my podcast, I'm not just doing something that I enjoy. I do enjoy it. [00:07:46] But it's not only that. [00:07:47] I'm not just doing something that I'm getting better at. [00:07:51] I'm glad about that. I'm glad that I'm getting better at recording podcasts, but it's not only for that reason. [00:08:01] It's so that I can let the world know that if you need help with leadership in your home, with leadership in the corporate office, with. With leadership in the Capitol House, with leadership at the church, I'm the one that can help you. [00:08:24] Well, it's been a pleasure having this conversation with you, and I cannot wait to finish publishing this episode so that I can go and share it with Ava and let her know what a great job she did by asking me simply, what is a podcast? [00:08:47] Until we meet again, please be blessed and stand out because of your excellence.
